Claim the Mic: A Speaker Series for Us, By Us — Created for URMIA Professionals of Color
Claim the Mic is a pilot speaker development series created and facilitated by Courtney Davis for the Professionals of Color (PoC) community within the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA). Modeled after the Toastmasters framework and grounded in cultural authenticity, this “for us, by us” series offers a supportive space for PoC professionals to refine their public speaking skills, strengthen executive presence, and elevate their unique voices.

Held bi-weekly from July through October 2025, Claim the Mic blends guided practice, storytelling, and peer feedback to help participants show up boldly whether presenting at conferences, leading in meetings, or sharing their personal narratives with purpose and power.
