Courtney Davis is the founder and guiding force behind Empower Moves Collective™, but what drives this goes deeper than credentials.
Throughout her personal and professional life, Courtney has been an agent of change, for herself and for others. Advocating boldly. Making her voice known. Creating space for others to do the same.
Long before Empower Moves Collective had a name, this was already happening. Mentoring professionals, making herself available, and using her voice to open doors for others. Informally, consistently, and without hesitation. She was also speaking and facilitating on the very ideas that would become the foundation of this work, and the response was resounding. At graduation from her Executive MBA program, she was named most likely to become a motivational speaker. At the time she smiled. Now she understands why.
At the center of everything is a simple belief: do the human things well.
For Courtney, that means seeing the individual, not just the role, the status, or the moment, and approaching people with the same respect, awareness, and care she would want in return.
That is what she brings into every coaching session, every keynote stage, and every room she facilitates. It has never been separate from who she is. It has always been the heart of it.
the experience
Courtney Davis brings nearly two decades of experience across insurance brokerage, higher education, and executive leadership. She currently serves as Executive Vice President and Education Practice Leader, leading strategy, growth, and direction for a national practice serving educational institutions.
Early in her career, Courtney worked as an insurance broker at two firms focused on the education sector, serving in production, placement, and client advisory roles. She then transitioned to institutional leadership at the University of Chicago, where she served as Assistant Vice President for Risk Management and Resilience Planning, overseeing risk and insurance across a complex and expansive environment that included a research university, academic medical center, community hospital, global institutes, and K-12 schools.
She has served in leadership roles across the industry, including as Past President of the University Risk Management and Insurance Association, and through board service with United Educators, captive insurance companies, and philanthropic organizations, and is a member of Chief.
Beyond her executive leadership, Courtney is an active voice in the industry, contributing through published thought leadership, speaking engagements, and podcasts.
Courtney holds a B.S. in Marketing from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, along with CPCU, ARM, and ARM-E designations.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Courtney is a proud mother, and that remains one of her greatest sources of perspective and inspiration. She finds grounding in faith, family, travel, and growth, and moves through life with purpose and a commitment to serving others. She also serves on the board of the Private Plug Foundation, leading partnerships, fundraising, and donor cultivation.
